Hypnotherapy for trauma and anxiety

You don't have to relive what happened. We work with what you're carrying now.

For adults living with trauma or long-held anxiety, especially when understanding the cause hasn't changed how you feel.

What brings people to me

Some people come to me with one event they've carried for years. Others have lived with anxiety for as long as they can remember: tension, dread, racing thoughts, trouble sleeping.

I also work with people soon after a traumatic event. Working with a fresh trauma early can help someone recover more quickly and feel steady and safe again in their everyday life.

Many also live with grief that hasn't moved, panic, phobias, insomnia, or depression.

Most have already talked through what happened, read key books, and understand their history well. Now they want to move beyond just understanding and actually feel different.

This was my first time using hypnosis and I found it to be very powerful and effective…

I'm experiencing less anxiety, confusion and anger. I'm less encumbered by past traumas.

I never expected that I could feel like this.

The memory you know may not be where the pattern began

Talk therapy often looks for the experience behind a problem, so you can see that experience again with an adult's understanding. For many people, that helps.

But the first experience isn't always the one you remember. The mind often holds the root of a problem back as a way of protecting you. This can lead people to spend months on a later memory that deepened the wound, without ever resolving where the issue began.

Hypnosis lets us reach that earlier experience. Once we address where the trauma began, the memories, feelings, and reactions that grew from it can begin to release, and so can the related traumas that followed.

Questions about trauma and anxiety

Do I have to describe what happened?

No. You decide how much you share. I can help with how an experience is affecting you now without hearing the details. If saying the words out loud is the part you've been dreading, you don't have to.

I'm already seeing a therapist. Is that a problem?

No. Hypnotherapy can work alongside care from a therapist or doctor you already see. Jeff, quoted on this page, came to me during his own therapy and used our sessions as a supplement.

How many sessions will I need?

I can't promise a number before we've met. Most of my clients report a noticeable change within their first or second hypnosis session. A single experience may take less time than anxiety you've lived with for decades, and I'll tell you what I'm noticing as we go.

What if I get emotional during a session?

That's completely natural. Often it's a release of emotions you've been holding in your body. You can pause or stop at any time, and I leave time between clients, so we're never rushed if you need a few more minutes before you go.

Can hypnotherapy replace my medication?

That decision belongs to you and whoever prescribes it. I don't give advice about medication, and hypnotherapy isn't a substitute for medical or psychiatric care.

If you're in crisis right now, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which answers 24 hours a day. For a medical emergency, call 911.

When I was 12, I lost my brother to a motorcycle accident. I have been in talk therapy for 30 years with very little movement. It only took one hypnotherapy session with Janice to finally move the grief in a deeply impactful way.

We are continuing to work through the widespread impacts of my loss, but I finally feel free from the PTSD, after 30 years.
